About
Dr Carolyn English is a PhD-qualified nutrition scientist and university lecturer with expertise in human nutrition, metabolism, and the role of inflammation in chronic disease and digestive health.
Her research explores how dietary patterns influence inflammation, cardiometabolic risk, and enzyme-related conditions like Sucrase-Isomaltase Deficiency (SID). She is currently investigating food-based management strategies to support people living with SID.
Outside of academia, she writes regularly for publications like The Australian and Body+Soul, translating complex nutrition science into clear, evidence-informed guidance that people can actually use.

My Approach
Living with Sucrase-Isomaltase Deficiency (SID) isn’t just a digestive issue, it affects every part of your life: how you eat, how you plan your day, and how you feel in your own body. I’ve walked that path myself, and I bring both scientific rigour and heartfelt understanding to the work I do.
I Hear You Because I’ve Been You
Before I was a PhD-qualified nutritionist, I was a patient. I know what it’s like to be told it’s “just IBS,” to feel dismissed, and to keep searching for answers when nothing seems to work. My own diagnosis of CSID changed everything, and now, I help others find that same clarity and relief.
I offer more than protocols. I offer a space where your story is believed, your symptoms make sense, and you’re finally supported by someone who truly gets it.
Biochemistry Meets Real Life
With a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry, I understand the enzyme deficiencies and digestive disruptions of SID on a molecular level. I bring that knowledge into every consultation, translating complex science into practical, realistic steps that fit your lifestyle.
Your plan will be tailored to:
-
Pinpoint your personal tolerance to sucrose and starch
-
Support gut healing and calm inflammation
-
Rebuild food confidence and metabolic health
Because of my deep understanding of micronutrients, phytonutrients, metabolism and inflammation, I can also help you maintain a nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory diet, even with restrictions. I suggest strategic food swaps to ensure you're not only meeting your basic nutrient needs, but also getting the diverse phytochemicals your body needs to thrive. This is where science meets strategy and where your health gains real momentum.
Grounded in Science. Guided by Experience.
As a university lecturer and published researcher, I ensure every recommendation is based on up-to-date, peer-reviewed evidence, not internet trends or guesswork. My work has appeared in The Australian, Body+Soul, and other national outlets, where I share science in a way that’s accessible, honest, and actionable.
This approach is the one I wish I had when I was searching for answers: grounded in science, shaped by lived experience, and centred on helping you feel well again.
